I have yarn already picked out for my next project. I want to knit a pair of worsted weight socks for myself (actually a couple of pairs). All this quiet gives me time to think, reflect, dream...

While I knit, I fall into the meditation that comes with knitting... as natural as breathing, this simple bit of magick -- working the yarn with needles to gently coax a new form, something beautiful emerges from a simple ball of yarn.

Happy Solstice!

Happy Solstice!! I am now a working CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) at one of our local hospitals. I am beginning to realize the dream that I have had since I was a small girl has evolved into reality, it will just take several years of schooling and hard work to get me there. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. It has been a HUGE step, just saying that I want to go to school to become a midwife. To commit to that thought, that no, I am not going to change my mind in 6 months, or a year, or halfway through the program.... that's a big step for me.
I have about 2 years of pre-requisites (mostly upper level science classes) to earn before an RN program will even look at my application. I also, in this time, have to bring my GPA up. I had also entertained the idea of just going for an Associate of Science degree while I am at it, since I have so many sciences to get....
General Bio I
Microbiology
Anatomy and Physiology I & II
Developmental Psychology
Expository Writing -- have to earn a higher grade
and if I get put on a waiting list the first year that I apply, I will have to retake Chemistry I -- my class will "expire" after 5 years from when I took it the first time....
After 2 years in the RN program, I hope to get a job working on a labor and delivery floor, or even better if I can get on in a birthing center...
Possibly going for a fast-track from RN to MSN, to get my Master's in Midwifery.
I am very excited and hopeful that this dream of mine will come to fruition one of these days... As I have heard since I was little, Time seems to pass by faster each year, hopefully "soon" I will be licensed to work as a nurse-midwife!

The C L U T T E R M O N S T E R

Since I was little, I have always had this "issue" with clutter. And after Kris and I got married, and we got our own place, not much has changed in the clutter department. Our house is not dirty, just <strike>cluttered</strike> disorganized. It is so frustrating. I see all of these houses and spaces online, on TV, and in magazines, where everything has a place, all of the horizontal surfaces are shiny and clean... A less is more attitude. I would love to have a cleaned, clutter-free, less is more home. And it is do-able. It is just a matter of getting motivated, getting up off the couch, and just doing it. Purging what we don't need or haven't used.

I have such a difficult time trying to figure out what I want to keep, what I might want to use in the future, what I know for sure that I won't use... and then how to get rid of all of it... some things I may be able to store at Mama's house in the attic. Other things, I can either throw away, or if it's in decent shape, give to the Goodwill.....

Starting over in Blog-land

So, I decided to delete all of the <strike>stupid</strike> old posts that I had on here and start fresh.
